Method & caveats
Figures are unclassified estimates compiled from the sources linked on each entry; they describe force posture, not targeting data. Warhead counts for China, India, Pakistan, North Korea, and (undeclared) Israel carry wide uncertainty. Coordinates are field- or base-level. China's silo markers are holes built (~320 across the three new fields) versus missiles loaded (~24–30 est.). Air rings are maximum unrefuelled range (one-way; combat radius is roughly half, and aerial refuelling extends all of them globally) — the large homeland-bomber rings vs. small forward-fighter rings reflect strategic bombers vs. tactical dual-capable fighters, not an error. Only the US and Russia field intercontinental strategic bombers (B-52H ≈ 14,080 km, B-2 ≈ 11,000 km; Tu-160 ≈ 12,300 km, Tu-95MS ≈ 12,000 km). Every European NATO base, plus China's H-6N and the French, Indian, Israeli and Pakistani air legs, uses theater bombers or tactical fighters delivering gravity bombs or short-range stand-off missiles, so their ranges are intentionally far smaller. Mobile territories are national silhouettes; SSBN patrol areas are schematic bastions; sub-encounter markers are publicly reported historical incidents at approximate positions. Several entries (Lakenheath, Belarus, NK Sinpo) reflect recent or contested deployments — see their sources. "Launch positions" counts countable launchers (one per silo, or total SLBM tubes at a sub base). Submarines: ~42 SSBNs are in service worldwide (US 14, Russia 12, China ~6, France 4, UK 4, India 2); Pakistan, Israel and North Korea pursue sea-based deterrents on diesel-electric boats rather than dedicated SSBNs. Patrol overlays distinguish Russian and Chinese bastions (defended near-home waters) from US, UK and French open-ocean patrol areas; sub-encounter diamonds are publicly reported incidents (losses, collisions, surfacings, test launches) at approximate positions.

Method & caveats
Membership is current as of June 2026, compiled from each organisation's official roster and the Arms Control Association, UNODA, UNOOSA, NASA and ICC treaty databases (linked per layer). "Western bloc" is an analytical construct (NATO + the non-NATO US treaty allies Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand), not a formal alliance. Near-universal treaties (Geneva, CWC, BWC, NPT) are rendered by their exceptions — parties shade in colour, notable non-parties in red. The CTBT view marks the nine Annex-2 holdouts blocking entry into force; a handful of minor non-ratifiers are not individually flagged. These are sourced estimates of legal status, not statements of compliance.

Method & caveats
"Orbital-capable" means a nation has launched a satellite to orbit on an indigenous vehicle (12 entities: USSR/Russia, USA, France, Japan, China, UK [1971, since abandoned], India, Israel, Iran, North Korea, South Korea, plus ESA as a multinational; New Zealand is shown via Rocket Lab). Country shading is a capability tier, not launch volume. Launch sites include active, under-construction and historic pads; sea-launch points are placed at representative coordinates. Launches-per-year and all-time totals are orbital launch attempts (Our World in Data / McDowell GCAT); 2025 figures are near-final. Fast-moving items (2025–26 maiden flights, booster-landing milestones, satellite counts) were adversarially verified but date-stamp before high-stakes use.

Vertical axis is altitude on a log scale (300 km → GEO at 35,786 km); horizontal is orbital inclination; bubble area is active-satellite count. The bands are LEO (<2,000 km), MEO (2,000–35,000 km) and GEO (~35,786 km). All GNSS sit in MEO/IGSO/GEO — a Kessler cascade in LEO would leave navigation and timing intact; the timing catastrophe is the nuclear/all-orbit case. Counts are open-source estimates.
